Curriculum Outcomes

English Language Arts

English Language Arts is a huge part of the Primary curriculum.  Your child will engage in a variety of literacy centers focused around the three components of ELA which are: Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening.  In addition to literacy centers, he/she will take part in a daily reader's workshop and writer's workshop where the skills taught during instructional time can be practiced and learned.  I will incorporate guided reading and writing lessons into the daily ELA time where I can work with each child individually throughout each term.  As students gain reading skills and strategies, they will become a part of a guided reading group and the lessons taught will be communicated to you at home along with the book that was read.  This will occur once students are ready and in the routine of daily reading.  A home reading program will also begin during first term.  This will be further explained.
